Eastside Townhouse (by Real Good Toys) project

I worked quite a bit on the mini project yesterday and most of the exterior is finished. Just waiting on more shingles to arrive.
I placed clay patio tiles on the floor of the outdoor area- where whoever lives in the lower level  will enter the apartment (What do you call that area anyway?) I used the mortar I had left from laying the patio tiles to create the sidewalk in front and mixed some in the paint for the steps in front to make them look like cement.
Painting all those railing pieces and posts was a great deal of fun. The fence is made of plastic and were shiny. I painted over them with the soft black paint I used on the railings and posts. I wasn't sure how sturdy they would be just glued to the posts, so I used my Dremel and made holes in the posts and stuck the ends of the railing into the holes. I think it will work out well. The fence pieces cut well and didn't break. I managed to be able to get the gate to work by using the small metal rings you find on necklaces, where the clasp is attached. Seems to be working so far.
The brick work is done with Magic Brick- it was pretty easy to use and mixed into the paint great.
Now I have to decide where to run the electrical tape and pick out color schemes.

Mom and I made a card for my nephew's wedding. Their colors are red and black:

The stamp in front and the saying inside are from Our Daily Bread.

Lady Anne August #2

Here is the second card for the Lady Anne Challenge:

The image is from Nana Vic
Was very different for me to make a card with no coloring needed! Paper again from the stack from Hobby Lobby.

Challenges for August

I worked on the challenge cards today and did 3 of them! I will be heading up north soon for my nephew's wedding and wanted to get them done before I left.

The images for Lady Anne's Christmas challenge #7  are from Nana Vic.

Santa was colored with Copics R35,37,39, belt with N5,7  and the tree with G 21,28,29.
The stripe paper is from a 6x6 DCWV  pack called Striped, the Merry Christmas paper is from a stack I got from Hobby Lobby last year.

The image for Delightful Inspiration {from the heart}  is called Cats Out of the Bag:
The cat was colored with YR 20,23,27 , E 44,47,49 and E40,41. The Mice are W 3,5,7. The bag is BG11,13,15. The grass YG 61,63,67 . The papers are from an 8x8 pad by DCWV called Cat.

So off to post them on their respective sites! Then I'll be back with some pictures of my miniature project and my nephew's wedding card.

Progress on Eastside Townhouse

Worked on the townhouse today and the body is about finished. I painted it a spruce green with a lighter green trim that is called lunar tide- doesn't sound very green:

Waiting for the glue to dry!

Eastside townhouse mini project

I started another mini project this past month. This one is the Eastside Townhouse kit from Real Good Toys. I wanted to put it over a basement like the brownstones in New York. This is what I came up with:

The house is already 4 stories and when on the basement it will be 62 inches tall! I finally have decided on colors for the outside of the house so I can move on with the main house body once I get the second coat of paint done. I am building this in my kitchen, have to keep moving pieces of the house around when mealtime comes around. It will be good to get it all put together so there is less clutter in the kitchen.

June Challenges and a wedding

Had some really nice images to work with again this month.

From Delightful Inspirations: {from the heart} we had multiple images to choose from called Sea Turtle Beach:

Once again I used my copics to color , the papers are from Echo Parks Sweet Day and DCWV Dots stack.

And for Lady  Anne"s Christmas challenge the images are from Eureka Stamps. Here is the first one:

I think the paper is from a seasons stack I got at Hobby LobbyI have the second image colored but haven't made it into a card yet, hopefully later this week.

Our Pastor's daughter is getting married this weekend, so my Mom and I made this card for her and her new husband:

The embossing folder and border is from cuttlebug. The outside sentiment is from McMahon's Five.

February Challenges

I managed to get cards made for the February challenges at Lady Anne's Christmas challenge. The stamps this time are from stamp-n-doodle. I used both stamps this time:

I used my Copics on the choir girls, paper is Bo Bunny

This one was done with colored pencils.

And these from Delightful Inspiration- {from the heart}:

I did both of these with my colored pencils

This was the first time I used the png format to layer the images, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be!

My mom and I also made some Easter cards, I will try and post them before they get sent out.
My Dad's birthday is in a few days so this is for him:

This image is also from Delightful Inspiration {from the  heart} named Windsong. I colored this with my Copics.

Looks like I got stuck on a layout on these!

Honorable mention from Creatin Contest and -Post by Bronners on their Facebook page

So I received an honorable mention in the Creatin Contest at Miniatures.com. And Lori from Bronner's media relations posted about it on their Facebook page!

This was posted on Bronner's page! Thank you to the Bronner's and Lori ( their media relations person) for their interest and the response I have received from them about my little project. I have many great memories of visiting their store over the years and had a wonderful time creating this miniature.

Our friend Lynn Lawitzke received an honorable mention award in the 2012 Creatin' Contest by miniatures.com and Hobby Builders Supply. Lynn built a CHRISTmas Wonderland designed to resemble Bronner's. We are honored that Lynn modeled her entry after our store. You can view Lynn's entry by clicking on the honorable mentions section and scrolling through the photos to four pictures of her CHRISTmas Wonderland. Congratulations, Lynn!

Delightful Inspiration card challenge

Designed2Delight is now Delightful Inspiration-From the Heart, but the challenge is still the same! Rules are posted on the blog, but it's pretty simple. Use the image of the month ( you will have to purchase it if you are just starting), post it to their site by the deadline and get the next image for free!

This is the first time I have done any paper piecing for a card:

Image is called cupcake line up.

I haven't been making many cards lately, not feeling very motivated right now.

I did get a pack of things and a letter together to send to my kids I sponsor through Compassion International :

This is Kingsley, he's 7 and lives in Ghana

This is Nelly, she is 8 and also lives in Ghana

I am pretty new to the sponsorship experience and am anxiously awaiting letters from them!
